Traditions, culture and customs of the Roma community were presented during a Round Table in Blagoevgrad
A round table on the topic "Traditions, culture and customs of the Roma community" on the occasion of the International Roma Day took place on April 7 (Friday) in hall 5 of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad.
After the official opening by Maria Grozdanova, director of the European Projects and Programs Directorate, the event continued with a musical greeting by students from the Department of Music at Neofit Rilski University of Applied Sciences.
Academician Hristo Kyuchukov, who joined the meeting remotely, Associate Professor Juliana Kovacka, Dr. Malina Stamatova, Desislava Kordeva, Savina Stoineva, Bogdana Kostadinova, Stoyan Veselinski, representatives of NGOs, interested persons and citizens took part in the discussions.
Moderators of the meeting were Chief Assoc. Dr. Vyara Tsvetanova and Assistant Dr. Mirela Kyuchukova.
Educational mediator Matilda Shankova and social worker Laza Tsoneva highlighted the holidays celebrated by the Roma community.
During the round table, the participants shared experiences and discussed issues related to culture, traditions, their preservation over time, their values, as well as the impact of globalization on the preservation of personal and community identity.
The event was closed by the Roma writer Kirilka Dimitrova, who believes in the message that "There is sun and earth for all flowers in this world."
The initiative is carried out under the project "Integrated measures for the inclusion and empowerment of Roma in the municipality of Blagoevgrad" in implementation of Grant Agreement No. Д03-14/11.04.2022, number from ISUN BGLD-3.002-0015-C01, financed under Program "Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups" 2014-2021 through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.
