Municipality of Blagoevgrad
Blagoevgrad Municipality is one of the constituent municipalities of Blagoevgrad District, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Bulgaria. The municipality is the largest by population and the third by territory within Blagoevgrad district (with an area of 621 sq. km). It is located in Southwestern Bulgaria, in the westernmost part of the Rilo-Rhodope massif and is composed of 26 settlements - the city of Blagoevgrad and 25 villages. The city is located in the valley of the Struma River, at an altitude of 360 m, in close proximity to the southwestern slopes of Rila. As an important administrative center of the municipality and of the Blagoevgrad region, it is located 100 km south of Sofia, 27 km from the border with the Republic of North Macedonia, 80 km from the border with the Republic of Greece and 200 km from Thessaloniki. The main international roads connecting Bulgaria with Greece and the Republic of North Macedonia pass through it. The city of Blagoevgrad is the largest city in the region and the administrative center of the district and municipality of the same name, Blagoevgrad, and one of the most important economic and cultural centers in Southwestern Bulgaria. It is an important cultural, administrative and industrial center for the entire southwestern part of the country. The municipality of Blagoevgrad is located in an area characterized by relatively well-developed technical and business infrastructure, a developed educational network, demographic potential and opportunities for economic development.
Trust for social achievement
TSA is a non-governmental organization that provides financial support to reduce poverty and to overcome gaps in education and market activity of people from economically vulnerable groups. The focus is on the Roma, two-thirds of whom live in poverty. As a pioneer and incubator of new ideas, TSA develops and implements different approaches in its endeavor to ensure equal opportunity for all. Therefore, TSA's efforts are directed in four program areas: "Early childhood development" - "The first 1000 days" and "Learning and early childhood care"; "Educational opportunities and achievements"; "Economic development and access to employment"; "Capacity Building". TSA values partnerships with like-minded people.
Leader Association
L.I.D.E.R. was established at the end of 2010, and over the years managed to become the leading Roma organization in the Blagoevgrad region (Southwestern Bulgaria). L.I.D.E.R. made empowering the Roma community for active participation in civil processes a top priority of his work. The sentence "Be the change you want to see in the world" (Mahatma Gandhi) is the main principle of the association's work. Mission: Our mission is to stimulate active civic participation in the process of formulating policies for the development of the Roma community, which enable them to exercise their rights as part of modern democracy. LEADER seeks to influence social inclusion policies by stimulating the process of critical thinking, knowledge, the exchange of local experiences and practices. We believe that positive social changes depend on: (1) activating and creating more opportunities for people (2) Making institutions and decision-makers more accountable to Roma communities (3) Uniting voices for change (4) changing attitudes and prejudices of the majority of the population. LIDER Association is a member of the Regional Council for Ethnic and Integration Issues - Blagoevgrad; LEADER Association is a member of the Regional Coordination Council for Primary Prevention of Cervical Cancer in the territory of the Blagoevgrad region at the Blagoevgrad RZI;
